Cheap Maternity Clothing - Tips on How to Find Them
Being pregnant is an amazing time in a woman’s life and one she should cherish. It is a time of roller-coaster emotions, low self esteem, self doubts, untold joy and varying degrees of discomfort. A pregnant woman needs to feel comfortable, and maternity clothes are very important in this. There is so much to buy in preparation for the new baby, that money is often tight, so cheap maternity clothing becomes a necessity.
Clothes are important to women; just because you are pregnant doesn’t mean that your fashion sense has to go out the window. You need to feel comfortable in what you are wearing, especially when you are pregnant, and you will want to look good even though you might feel like a beached whale! You don’t have to spend a lot of money on maternity clothes either; here are some tips on finding cheap maternity clothing:
- Talk to friends who have been pregnant recently and see if they have any maternity clothes that you could borrow. Even if you come up with a few tops or a pair of maternity jeans, it is less that you have to buy.
- If you don’t mind wearing second hand, check out the Goodwill stores and charity stores that sell donated clothing. You might pick up some lovely maternity clothes for a very low price. Take them home and wash them with your normal washing detergent, and they will smell just like your own.
- Another source of second hand maternity clothes is to follow the yard sales in your area. Women are often unhappy to just throw out perfectly good maternity clothes but they will put them out at a yard sale.
- Check out the chain stores; they sell maternity clothing at cheaper prices than boutiques and specialty stores. Buy the items that you really need like underwear, sleepwear and t-shirts here and save lots of money.
- Another department to check out in the chain stores is the ‘plus’ sizes for larger women. You could pick up some tops, over-sized shirts that will look good over t-shirts and winter gear that will fit you for most of your pregnancy, if not all of it. This is especially good idea if your pregnancy goes over both summer and winter. For the early months, the larger sizes may be sufficient for you, and they will cost lots less than clothing labeled ‘maternity’.
- Do you know someone who sews their own clothes? Maybe if you buy some fabric, they would run up some maternity clothes for you, in return for you making cups of coffee and lunch.
- The internet is an ideal place to find cheap maternity clothing. Businesses that trade online have much lower overheads than traditional businesses and so their prices are usually cheaper. Go online and look around; even if you just get a good pair of jeans, or a dress, or a special occasion outfit, you will have saved money on your purchase.
- Watch out for the sales in the specialty and department stores; you might be able to pick up a real bargain.
Whatever you decide to do to find cheap maternity clothing, make sure what you get is comfortable, allows for increasing size and you feel good in it. Your self esteem will soar when you know you look smart when you go out.
